Chinchilla’s Big Melon is a sight to see, weighing 4 tonnes and standing 3 metres high and 9 metres wide. Not only does it offer a fun one in a melon photo op, but also represents the local area, with Chinchilla recognised as Australia’s ‘melon capital’. The Big Melon is situated between the Chinchilla Visitor Information Centre and the railway crossing.
Jump back in time and experience Chinchilla in its pioneer days at the Historical Museum. Check out its collection of steam engines, vintage cars, historical relics and costumes, then wander down the road and explore the blacksmith shop, old jail, Goombi Hall and an authentic slab hut.
Embrace the native flora and fauna at the Chinchilla Botanic Parkland, with plenty of features and amenities for the family to enjoy. A few of the parkland’s facilities include barbeques, parkour equipment, a shaded playground, a walking path and even a water park.
